- 1 bunch of sirukeerai(amaranth or chota saag)
- 2 small onions
- 2 flakes of garlic
- 2-3 dry red chilli
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- salt to taste
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 cup grated coconut
- Clean the keerai and keep the bottom thick part of stem for preparing soup. Wash and drain the water.
- Chop into small portions. Heat oil in a kadhai and temper mustard seeds & dry red chilies(cut into 3 pieces). Add onion and garlic. Fry for two minutes. Add turmeric powder and chopped keerai. Mix well and add 4 cup water.
- Let the keerai cook and water level will reduce. Add salt to taste and grated coconut. Serve hot with sambar rice.
