- 8-9 french beans – chopped and boiled in water for 10 mins
- 2 tbsp toor dhal (tovaram paruppu or pigeon pea)
- 3 tbsp grated coconut
- 2 small onions
- 3 dry red chillies
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- salt to taste
- Boil the chopped beans for 10 mins. Drain out the water. Pressure cook the toor dhal adding 1/2 water for 2 whistles.
- Heat oil in a kadhai and temper mustard seeds & dry red chillies. Saute a while and add chopped onions. Fry for 2 mins and add beans & pressure cooked toor dhal. Mix well & add turmeric powder. Add salt to taste. Cook for 10 mins and add grated coconut. Cook for another 5 mins. Serve hot with kara kuzhambu rice.
