Ingredients :

To Marinate Chicken :

  • 500 gms chicken
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • salt to taste

For Curry :

  • 1/4 cup chopped capsicum
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander

To Fry & Grind :

  • 2 medium sized onion
  • 3-4 medium sized tomatoes
  • 3 green chilies
  • 1/2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 4 cloves
  • 1/2 cinnamon stick
  • 1 bay leaf

Punjabi Chicken Curry

Method :

  • Marinate chicken and keep aside for 30 mins. Heat 2 tsp oil in a kadhai and fry the above mentioned ingredients till tomato becomes soft. Remove from the heat and allow to cool.
  • Grind it in a mixer without adding to smooth paste. Heat 4 tbsp oil in a kadhai and fry the marinated chicken till it turns golden brown. Remove from the oil and keep aside.
  • Heat 1 tbsp oil and 1/4 cup butter in a pan or kadhai and add the grounded paste to it. Fry for few mins.
  • Add turmeric powder, red chili powder and sugar. Saute a while. Add 1 cup water and cook it covered for 5 mins.
  • Add fried chicken, garam masala and salt to taste. Cook it covered for 10 mins. Add chopped capsicum and cook it covered till capsicum gets cooked and garnish with chopped coriander. Serve hot with rice or any indian bread variety.
